Nora Ephron, 1941-2012


It goes without saying that Auteuse Theory was very sad to hear of the passing of Nora Ephron, one of the most distinctive female authorial voices in Hollywood over the last 30-odd years. Despite her light-hearted statement of antipathy towards 'panels on women in film' (one of the things she said she wouldn't miss after her death: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/jun/27/nora-ephron-miss-wont-miss), her work demonstrated the significant difference that a female point-of-view could make in the treatment of women on the screen.
